Open Day at the TOS VARNSDORF Secondary Technical School
The event was special, attended by Prime Minister Andrej Babiš and Minister of Industry and Trade Karel Havlíček, who kept their promise from September 2019 to visit our school.
On this day, the school had been operating in a new building for three months. Despite students attending classes on the Thursday, the school opened its doors, and parents of prospective students could see and inspect the school.
Around sixty visitors came for this opportunity. After gathering in the auditorium, visitors were treated to a surprise and a much more personal atmosphere. In contrast to the previous September visit, no media were present (last time, we invited newspaper and TV journalists, many of whom accepted our invitation). Both government officials and their entourages inspected the school and even visited a classroom where teaching was underway. Parents then listened to short speeches from both government officials, and parents and new students were also addressed by Mr. Rýdl senior and Mr. Rýdl junior. The company and school then gave presentations.
The day continued with a debate about the school, the Šluknovský výběžek region’s healthcare system and several other issues. The originally planned two-hour visit by government officials extended to almost four hours. Once again, we can say that our school made an impression. Guests particularly appreciated its conceptual approach and objectives and expressed their support for technical schooling, which is a more than an equal revision of the state school system.
